According to the "American" Political Class - Post 7

According to our self-anointed and self-appointed Political Class...

Allegations of rapes on college campuses are a cause of concern as long as it fits the narrative and must be dealt with....

Rapes in prison is rip-roaringly hilarious and cases like Rotterham are swept under the rug because it doesn't fit the political class's narrative.

A COUPLE OF GREAT MOMENTS IN POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

This is one of the articles where I deal with some of the brilliant moments of political correctness, the political and cultural idiocy that keeps on giving.  This one occurred in the summer of 2005.
In 1995, the U.S. postal service had a series of stamps based on American comic strips.
In 2005, The postal service of Mexico decided to release a series of stamps based on the same theme, beloved comic strip characters.    Those of us north of the border only heard of one of those series, comic book character Memín Pinguín.

Needless to say, many north of the border were offended and out raged.  Controversy flared especially among the political class.  Leaders of the NAACP, the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, the National Council of La Raza and the National Urban League
Many Americans are familiar with the characters Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, and Reggie , all of whom were created in the early 1940's.

In the same vein, many Mexicans are familiar with the characters Memín, Carlangas, Ernestillo, and Riquillo also created in the early 1940's.

So as always, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton decided to move in to protest at the Mexican embassy.

Only to find that their race card was not going to be accepted and they have no White-guilt south of the border.  Instead of the stamps being pulled this happened:

“By Friday afternoon, people were bidding more than $125 on the Internet auction site eBay for the complete set of five stamps--each of which has a face value of 60 cents. Hundreds lined up at the capital's main post office to buy the stamps, and Mexicans snapped them up at such a rate that all 750,000 sold out.” (The Guardian, July 1, 2005)

Fred Reed said "Let’s see. How many of those throwing fits had ever heard of Memin Penguin before this week? How many of them have seen a Memin Penguin comic book? (See below.) How many read Spanish? How many read English? Have been to Mexico? Have the foggiest idea what they are talking about? How many are not spoiled, puerile, self-admiring twits?  Just checking.

Blacks are not making themselves friends in this part of the world. (More correctly, American blacks are not. Hispanic blacks behave normally, speak Spanish instead of Hisbonics, and seem to be pretty good people.) The Mexican reaction, certainly as I find it among people I know, and in the media, is one of annoyance, or something stronger than annoyance."

"Just as Speedy Gonzalez has never been interpreted in a racial manner by the people in Mexico," embassy spokesman Rafael Laveaga said. ". . . He is a cartoon character. I am certain that this commemorative postage stamp is not intended to be interpreted on a racial basis in Mexico or anywhere else."

As for me, I don't care for I don't have a dog in this race, I just enjoy seeing the adherents of political correctness and "anti-racists" turn on each other.  As often happens, controversy and protests oftenlead to huge sales.
In 2005, Ted Turner decided to ban Speedy Gonzales because he thought it offended Mexicans (only the university trained La Razans were offended by Speedy) from the Cartoon Network, though it still played on Univision.  There was a back lash for so he lifted his Turner's assumption, ban.

Memin was part of the Saturday morning line up
In 2008, there was a dust up at the Walmart stores over the Memín Pinguín comic book, Shawedria McGinty saw the comic at a Houston, Tx Walmart and complained to Quanell X, to avoid trouble, the major box store chain pulled the series to avoid trouble.  Many Mexicans were unhappy about that.

Personally, I think he would have done a better job than Obama.
Isn't multi-Culturalism just grand?  Even if every White vanished from the face of the Earth, there would still be racial and ethnic tension.   I don't buy the term "racist" or "racism", since tribalism is hard wired into the human brain.

The "R" word is just used by the political class to guilt trip Whites into silence about their disenfranchisement, and attacks on their culture.   Any idealism not grounded in reality is doomed to failure at best and disaster at worst.

Multi-Culturalism has been promised to us like this way:

This is how it most likely will be:

ALL IN THE DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY

Norman Lear read an article in Variety magazine about a cutting edge British Sit-Com, Till Death Us Do Part and it reminded him of his relationship with his father.  (Episodes of Till Death Us Do Part can be found on YouTube.)  His father once called him the laziest White man he has ever seen.  I kind of get that feeling he never got over that insult.

Lear was not born in New York city but New Haven, Connecticut in 1922.  His mother was born in the Ukraine, and his father was the son of Russian Jewish immigrants.   His father was a traveling sales man who got convicted of selling phony bonds when Norman was only 9, serving 3 years in prison.  Needless to say it was quite embarrassing to him.  He always referred to his father as a rascal.

According to family lore, his mother dropped him on his head when he was 3 months old, while bathing him in the kitchen sink.  Frightened she fled to her neighbor while she left him there on the floor crying, over the years it seemed increasingly funny to her.

Like many a young man at the time, he joined the armed forces after Pearl Harbor, enlisting like Archie into the U.S. Army Air Corps (which later became the U.S. Air Force).   The whole story can be found at Wikipedia, now back to the Bunker household.

Edith Bunker was modeled after his mother.  I don't recall any mention of Edith dropping Gloria when she was 3 months old.

Archie was modeled after Lear's dear old dad though Carroll O'Connor was modeling him after Ralph Kramden of the Honeymooners, who was in turn modeled after Oliver Hardy.  It was said that Fred Flinstone was modeled after Ralph Kramden but that's another story.   Of course Archie doesn't do 3 years for selling worthless bonds.  O'Connor also modeled him after Norm Crosby

The show went like this...  The father was a blue collar fire breathing bigot and the mother a dingbat, the daughter an aspiring feminist with a Meat Head husband.   The pariculars of that series can be found here.

Like Norman Lear, Rob Reiner also had daddy issues.  Rob was the son of TV funny man Carl Reiner.  Carl was the creator of the Dick Van Dyke Show back in 1960 that was patterned after his life.   There was more than one time, Dick's character said that his son Richie didn't like getting haircuts and  wasn't the smartest kid in school.  I wondered how Rob felt about that at the age of 13 and growing up from that.  Was he teased in school about that?

It was the end of the sixties, the Civil Rights movement was fizzling, many Black people didn't want to integrate any more than their White counterparts.   The Johnson administration ended in clashes between the liberal faction of the political class and their leftist children.  Civil Rights lost popularity and something called Women's Lib was waiting in the wings.   Of course, families were acting less like the Robinsons and more like the Bunkers.

Being a  of being a student of what passes for public education, I did indeed believe Archie was a fire-breathing bigot, his poor put-upon wife was a dingbat, and Mike & Gloria were cool, hip and trendy.  What can I say, I was a Teen-Aged Idiot.   TV can influence perception of what reality is.

Mack White stated in his article on TV:

"This process is also at work in programs ostensibly produced for entertainment. The "logic" works like this: Archie Bunker is an idiot, Archie Bunker is against gun control, therefore idiots are against gun control. Never mind the complexities of the issue. Never mind the fact that the true purpose of the Second Amendment is not to protect the rights of deer hunters, but to protect the citizenry against a tyrannical government (an argument you will never hear voiced on any television program). Monkey see, monkey do--or, in this case, monkey not do."

Though Archie talked like Norm Crosby with all his malapropisms,  and all the sighs and eye rolling from Mike & Gloria, was what he said stupid or crazy?   While John Lindsay was riding his fashionable high horse of White guilt, there was an increasing problem of muggings and other street crime not to mention multiple air planes being hijacked, was having a gun stupid or crazy?

The vast majority of gun deaths happen in gun-free zones and cities with the strictest gun laws?  Hillary, Obama and the rest of the so-called Gun Control crowd are not part of the solution but the problem.

Archie was ridiculed for saying Blacks preferred to be among their own.  With the increase of Black only housing on college campuses demanded by Black students, it seems Archie was right maybe not about all of them but a lot.   Nation of Islam, BLM, or the New Black Panthers, anybody?

Anyway around my 40's, I re-watched some the "All In The Family" with my increasingly middle-aged world view.

Archie Bunker was a fire-breathing bigot?  Sheesh, I been around what he said was mild.  Ethnic teasing and joking have been as long as two or more ethnic groups are in the same area.

"As a young man, I also worked on construction sites with every race on earth, and the ethnic jokes were non-stop among the workers. I was subjected to constant Irish and Paddy jokes, yet every single one of these men would have protected my ass if someone started a fight with me, and we all went out drinking together as multi-ethnic, merry vagabonds on a Friday evening.  That's how working class people deal with their tribal rivalries while maintaining their human decency. Something the Politically Correct Cultural Marxists loathe and seek to annihilate.
Human decency will always trump Cultural Marxism and Fascism. We are not Bolsheviks nor cult members. We understand genuine compassion and we know the power of a fucking funny joke."
-And-

"There is no honesty in Political Correctness. None.

I am working class. I am not a member of the Cambridge SWP Anti-Nazi League. I do not relate to these self-appointed politically correct vanguards of the working class whom these 'socialists' clearly despise. I will never forget the look on the face of a Cambridge SWP stately home 'socialist' when she called me a 'common Dublin guttersnipe' in her best upper-class Home Counties condescending manner. That was real hatred - both at the ethnic and class level.
When you encounter genuine hateful bigotry, you bloody well know it is the real thing."
That sounds more like the Mike Stivics of the world, with the permanent frown, constant heavy breathing through the nose, and cross eyed staring. Humorless people are the worst to be around.

Being a former left leaning college educated hippie-redneck, who realized there are more college educated people than jobs for them, find out that the Archie Bunkers of the world are funner to be around than the Mike Stivics.   I prefer the blue collar work over the estrogen soaked, eunuch making white collar sector.

I also realized that Edith wasn't so much a ding-bat but a possessor of a goofy sense of humor.  I found Mike to be smug, condescending, self-righteous, loud and all around annoying.  Gloria was just a crazy mixed-up kid, a product of the modern education system.

I also noticed Archie usually made the ethnic and racial cracks usually and only around his son-in-law because tweaking liberals is fun.  He traded barbs with the men of the Jefferson household but seemed to have more non-White friends than Meat-Head.
I will conclude with this observation.
Know what Archie Bunker would be considered in the modern day work place?
A Teddy Bear...

Definition of Reality TV

Where real people wanting fame are selected to participate in unreal situations, under unreal circumstances, being manipulated and edited to put together a tacky show so they don't have to pay script writers.

Davis M.J. Aurini has a post on this process.

According to the "American" Political Class - Post 5

According to our self-anointed and self-appointed Political Class...

Talented comedic actors such as:

Cedric the Entertainer and

Robert Townsend

Can portray these two characters:

But not these two characters:

Even though the two duos of characters were practically the same archetype,  and Amos was more assertive and more likely to stand up for himself than Norton was.

ANITA BRYANT WAS ONE RIGHTEOUS BABE

ANITA BRYANT WAS ONE RIGHTEOUS BABE.  There I said it, and she wasn't a spring chicken in that picture but she was still smoking hot.   She was 21 when I was born, and yes I had a little school boy crush on her.  Trying to live the Christian life is, was, and will be major hard struggle.  Especially in junior high school (called middle school now).  I feared for my soul back then, because looking at her caused some stirrings whenever I saw her picture.  Longing after women especially Christian was a thou-shalt-not as far as I understood it back then in my awkward age.  Like I said the Christian life is hard.

I grew up in the '60's and the '70's.  It was okay to have a crush on Raquel Welch which I did and badly.   It was okay to have a crush on Lee Meriwether and I did.   It was okay to have a crush on Farrah Fawcett, I did.  It was okay to have a crush on Cher, I did but doubted that I could keep up with her.   Now if I would have said I had a crush on Anita Bryant I might get ridiculed as if I said had a crush on Lillie Munster or Morticia Addams.

What George Washington Carver was to peanuts especially the peanut growers' association, Anita Bryant was to oranges.   That's what she came to be remembered as along with another thing which I will get to later.

Depending on their age and musical tastes, some might find the song annoying, but could it be anymore annoying than Ring around the Collar , Golden Grahams , Honey Comb hideout, Have it your way, or I would like to teach the world to sing?  Warning, hitting those links may make annoying songs stick to your brain.

Bryant was born in 1940 to parents who would soon divorce.  She started singing publicly at the age of six even getting some gigs on radio and TV.  She become Miss Oklahoma at age 18 and second runner up in Miss America of 1959.   At the age of 20, she married Miami disc jockey, and then her career in pop music began.  She was best known for Paper Roses.

Before she was pitching oranges and singing about them.  She was also a pitch-woman for Coca-Cola, Friedrich Air Conditioners , Kleenix, etc but became best known for Florida Orange Juice.  She became their official spokes- woman in 1969.  The tag line became:

She was known as squeaky clean, a safe TV personality for the sponsors.   She went from Pop to Gospel early in her career and was one of many Born-Again Christian celebrities.

To the Fundamental Christians, the sexual revolution was bad enough, with many of the young thumbing their nose at pre-marital chastity and making out like they're were at a Roman orgy was bad enough, but for homosexuals wanting a piece of the action was beyond horrid and that was the heterosexual youth.

Her career took an abrupt turn in 1977, a Dade County ordinance banning discrimination against gays and lesbians passed.   Bryant took a public and prominent role in forging a campaign to repeal it.     Bryant stated that she did not want an openly gay teacher (otherwise known as a swish) teaching her kids or propagandizing her children.

She also voiced about pedophilia,  and cited a personal ad found in a gay magazine.   Her campaign became known as Save Our Children.  That got loads of snickers from the political class and the lame stream media.  Perhaps they never heard of Harry Hay and the Mattachine Society or don't want us to.

The News and Entertainment media need a new monster to rant and rail against it.   There was the campaign to oppose Bryant, and harass her.

The media attacks began in earnest.  She was called Hurricane Anita, she become fodder for jokes.

The jokes often got dirty and crude;

 Things just heated up:

Though she was able to joke about it, the media didn't care.   They just made a note that after praying, her husband gave on the assailants a taste of his own pie.  What did they expect him to do?   What with an assault on his smoking hot wife.

Still she soldiered on, through the personal and media attacks, and losing her job as Florida Orange Juice pitch woman.  She was still smoking hot.  Her career was done, but Jerry Falwell, who came down to help her, his career took off.  I won't go into her personal life that is none of my business.

We still have media campaigns toward anyone that don't tow the line in regards to the gay life style.   Duck Dynasty, the founder of Mozilla,  and anyone who questions or criticizes the agenda.  We have militant gays suing Christian bakers, Christian photographers, and other business who refuse to endorse gay marriage though they could have taken their business to someone who would be glad to have their money.
I don't care what consenting adults do behind closed, but I don't trust anyone who takes something as personal and private as sexuality and makes it political and public.

She was painted as a fire breathing bigot (a typical archetype by the corporate media).  Was she?  Notice in the Barbara Howar interview, that she didn't want witch hunt on gays or invade their privacy.  She said she wouldn't disown or cease loving her children if they turned gay.  She said God still loved gays though not liking the way they're living.

How does she compare to Westboro Baptist (most likely Calvinist) Church who loudly insist that God hates fags?  Did Anita ever picket or protest at funerals?   Who would you rather deal with?  The WBC or Anita?  Who is actually more hateful.  Maybe the WBC are the fire breathers more  made to order for the lame stream media.  Maybe that's what they want.  Fire breathing bigots, if it bleeds it leads.

I will say it again, Anita Bryant was one righteous babe.  She was smoking hot as well.

Snoopy VS the Red Baron - The Final Battle

The Definition of Feminism

In contrast to the common misconception of being pro-woman, it is a doctrine that is anti-male (including boys and men), anti-tradition, anti-Christian, anti-family, anti-any woman who is not a man-hating lesbian gorgon.
